TransLingua is proud to announce that our New York office has found a new home at 630 Ninth Avenue, Suite 708, New York, NY 10036. While we were planning this move, we felt that it was also time to refresh our look online. So, here it is finally… after months of hard work and creative process, we would like to invite all of our clients, vendors and friends to explore our new site. This is our basic site for now. We are still working on the finishing touches of an interactive client and vendor portal for seamless uploading and downloading of files, a convenient and secure online payment option, and our new blog that will discuss cultural and language related topics.

Please submit your feedback to us at nyc@translingua.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, the Wasserman Center for Career Development at the NYU School of Professional Studies hosted a panel discussion and webinar for NYUSPS students from various programs such as MS in Translation and MS in Project Management as well as guests online. The Panel was moderated by Edwin Raagas, Assistant Director, Wasserman Center for Career Development at NYUSPS, and the panelists were: Daniel Crawford, Director of Operations at TranslateMedia, Nicole Kelshaw, Director of Production at G3 Translate, and our own Nicole Michel-Deshagette, co-owner of TransLingua.

The topics that were discussed included: technical and soft skills that help translators and project managers become successful, job searching tips, how can a candidate stand out in the networking and interview process, industry trends and emerging markets, career challenges and how to overcome them, career paths or trajectories available to translation professionals, and learning trends and updates in the translation field. TransLingua and Intercambio – a synergy built on communication across cultures.

TransLingua is pleased to announce its most recent partnership with Intercambio, another intercultural organization here in Boulder, Colorado. Founded in 2001, Intercambio is an independent nonprofit organization that has served over 10,000 people throughout Boulder County. It builds understanding, respect and friendship across the Hispanic and North American cultures through educational opportunities and intercultural events. We too believe in the power of language, and we look forward to helping Intercambio bridge communication gaps and to supporting their work with people from different cultures who make Boulder such an exiting and vibrant community.

Intercambio’s mission is to build understanding, respect and friendship across cultures through educational and intercultural opportunities. They offer:

  • Volunteer-taught English classes for adult immigrants.
  • Classes and workshops on life skills and citizenship.
  • Cultural trainings and events for all community members.

Intercambio also celebrates intercultural interactions through monthly community events like potlucks, camping trips, sports days and their annual La Fiesta World Party.

On March 11, 2015, TransLingua is sponsoring Intercambio’s “Comedy for Cambio” event. This show features standup comedians from all over the country who joined together to help raise funds for Intercambio’s mission. Intercambio has hundreds of students on a waitlist for English classes and needs help raising money in order to recruite volunteers and to accommodate the students. TransLingua is proud to support Intercambio in this effort and to be among the sponsors of this fun event.
